As outlined in a recent post called JobsInChina.com Brings You … Jobs In China, this site recently added a listing of jobs in China. As explained in the previous post, I decided to partner with NewChinaCareer. I also expressed one doubt:
I’m expecting the majority of people arriving at my site, looking for jobs, to be interested in teaching English. The NewChinaCareer service is more tailored to general professional positions, and quite a few of them require Mandarin. So it may not be the best fit.
Since adding the list of jobs in China, I’ve received a couple of emails from people who’ve found that the jobs being offered don’t suit their needs. In both cases, these people would have been better suited finding jobs teaching English in China. At the same time, some people have been using the service, so the jobs listed clearly must appeal to them.
In an effort to find the best balance, I’m asking you, what are you looking for: Professional jobs in China or jobs teaching English?.
Please fill in the below poll to give me the feedback I need to make sure this site is giving you the service you need. Thanks!
EDIT: The poll is now closed, but please leave your feedback in the comments
Hi mate,
I’ll get my Bachelors degree around Christmas 2009, after that I’d like to work in an IT entry level position in China. NewChinaCareer is quite helpful for finding something.
Well I guess, teaching English gives You a good salary in the beginning, however once I get a few years of experience in IT, I can leave teachers behind me. Most people still look short term benefits first.
have a nice day 😉

WOW what an interesting note, I have been to china and to Philippines, and prefer Philippines 10 to 0ne over China. I must ask, how did you get connected to teach in the Philippines? Heck I would just love to work on the Philippines. There are some very beautiful Islands there. I noticed that I had a very hard time getting bored there, In fact, I never remember being bored there at all…
Hello there!
I’m an Austalian of Hungarian decent, basically, so I have two mother tongues, both of which I speak and teach. I am currently learning both German and Japanese, but am interested in the Chinese language too, though I think I could only learn that in a native enviournment.
I’m 27 years old, female, and single.
I’m am well-known as a patient and sympathetic person by all those around me, but I am also a person who would like to achieve whatever I can and better myself.
I have been working as a teacher of the following subjects:
-> English (at a language school)
And as a private teacher:
-> kvantummechanics
-> physics (all levels from primary to uni)
-> maths (same)
-> chemistry (same)
-> hungarian
I can get a wad of references from these wonderful people. 🙂
I have had many sutdents who have had great success with my method if teaching as I make sure that I use their natural knowledge and talents, not to mention personality to hlp them understand the subject they would like to learn.
I have only the final exam left in my own studies (minor: astrophysics, major: particle physics), but I have had to leave Uni due to finacial reasons. Not to mention that I am thoroughly disappointed that the education system here in Hungary has moe to do with whom you know and not WHAT you know, sadly….
I would ideally like to work for one or two years, finish my studies and move on to a doctorate degree and teach at a university and be a researcher in solar physics. If not, then a stable job in education would be acceptable.
Thanks for reading this, I hope to hear from you.
All the best,
Réka.
