The Kindergarten is our best Kindergarten in Panyu, Guangzhou and offers a fantastic environment for teachers and students.We are looking for head teachers to join our professional team.Position: Head Teacher Responsibilities:A. Safety 1. Help keep the school environment safe by immediately reporting any unsafe facilities or equipment to the School Principal.2. Collaborate with other staff members to promote the general health and safety of everyone at the school.3. Encourage childrens independence in terms of healthy choices such as self-care and hygiene.B. Respect1. Uphold the school code of conduct and all school policies, rules and procedures in a supportive and positive manner.2. Collaborate with other teachers and co-workers to improve lesson delivery, each other, and the school.3. Implement a caring and respectful classroom management system that encourages conflict resolution. Rewards, punishments, and point systems for behavior should only be used as a last resort. 4. Encourage cooperative social behavior through games and activities.C. Teaching1. Teaching hours will be from 8am-5:00pm with a one hour unpaid break Monday through Friday.2. Head Teachers will be expected to be the primary English-speaking teacher for one class of 18-20 children. Head Teachers will be required to teach at least 24-28 contact hours per week. Every Head Teacher will be given several planning periods per week. The periods not taught by the Head Teacher will be covered by the Teaching Ambassador orEnglish Language Teacher. Schedules will be provided to all teachers so that such arrangements are made clear at the beginning of the semester. Generally speaking, the Head Teacher and Teaching Ambassador will teach all areas ofcurriculum except English Foundations classes which will primarily be taught by the English Language Teacher. 3. The Head Teacher is expected to hold a position of respectful leadership among the teachers who support them in their class. Without having formal authority, the Head Teacher will be expected to positively influence, engage, and motivate their team to deliver the best possible education for our learners and their families. The Head Teacheris expected to act as mentor and coach to help other teachers in the class develop and grow in their practice and asprofessionals. If Head Teacher has difficulty performing this role or if other teachers are not respecting the role of Head Teacher, the Teachers Leader shall be the first person to consult with for a solution. If the Teachers Leader is unable to assist in finding a solution then the School Principal shall be consulted for a solution to the management dynamics of the class. 4. Lead other teaching staff in the classroom on the facilitation of learning basic skills including letters, numbers, elemental natural and social science, music, art, literature and behavioral skills to children in the kindergarten to advance their physical, mental, and social development and maximize their potential in a positive and safe environment.5. follow Use, supplement, and modify the school syllabus in accordance with students needs and desires to ensure thateach student achieves learning objectives and curriculum goals6. In conjunction with the other teaching staff, prepare lesson materials and resources. All teaching staff need to bealigned on lesson goals and take part in the planning and reflection process.7. Uphold an English immersion environment for all portions of the lesson except for the cultural lessons taught by Teaching Ambassadors in Chinese. Translation will not be used in the classroom for instruction purposes.8. Assessment and Evaluation.a. Use narrative and portfolio-based assessment to observe, evaluate and record children’s social and academic progress. This includes the use of photos, videos, and student work.b. Provide constructive feedback to parents, guardians and administrationc. Prepare and distribute written reports. 9. In the future, all teachers will have the option to take additional Aftercare Classes if desired and available. 10. Depending on the enrollment of the school some teachers will be asked to teach ACC as part of their work roster. This will be according to a mutual agreement prior to starting said roster. 11. Family Communication.a. Work together with administration, families, and community helpers to ensure the continuation of any plans to improvea childs performance.b. Parents Meetings/ Special Event meetings: once a semester.c. Home visits with new children at the beginning of each semester, for sick children, or when the teacher feels other support is needed by the child or family .d. Work closely with Teaching Ambassadors to ensure strong communication between teachers and parents in terms ofchildrens progress, behavior, and development.f. Speaking with parents before and after classes.g. Parent Teacher Conferences.h. Documenting student work and organizing into student portfolios as appropriate.i. Updating online information made available to parents regarding the school and their children.12. Assist the school purchaser in requesting classroom equipment and supplies by updating him or her regarding yourneeds in a timely manner. The Teaching Ambassador will assist in this task by reporting resource needs to the Head Teacher as they become apparent. 13. Professional Development.a. All teachers will be observed by the principal, peers, and other team members to encourage professional growth,share best practices, and ensure a high standard of education.b. Workshops and Meetings.c. Staff meeting: Every two weeks during nap time.d. In-house training: On-going once a month .e. Encouraged attendance at educational conferences.f. Suggest library titles to use as resources.Professional Development Journals should be kept by all teaching staff.D. Education, Skills, and Key CompetenciesPassion for ChildrenBachelor’s Degree in Education or equivalent/ Certification in Early Childhood EducationFirst Aid and CPR certifications an advantage2 yearsprevious post-graduate teaching experience.Understanding and proficiency in relevant technology including interactive projectors, online learning platforms such asMoodle or Blackboard, MS Office, and online educational tools.Familiarity and use of social media for professional development such as teaching blogs and Twitter are a distinct advantage.Knowledge of current educational and instructional methodologies and techniques Knowledge of theories and practices of early child development.Strong communication and teamwork skillsPlanning and organizingProblem-solving skillsPatience, adaptability, and flexibilityCreativityLeadershipE. Head Teacher Pay ScaleMonthly Salary Scale:- University Diploma in Education and 2-year’s teaching experience – 14000 RMB- University Diploma in Early Childhood Education and 2-year’s early childhood teaching experience or University Diploma in Education and5-year’s teaching experience – 15000 RMB- Masters Degreeand above in Education or 10 years young learner teaching experience – 16000 RMBHousing Allowance: Up to 3000 RMB Relocation/Return HomeAllowance: Up to 10,000 RMByearly Insurance: Extent of benefits TBD.End of contract bonus: 1 month’s base salaryHolidays:- All Chinese National Holidays off in addition to ChristmasDay. Chinese New Year will be 3 weeks.- 1-month Summer Holiday in June, July, or August. This will need to be agreed on between the principal and the teacher as holidays will need to be staggered among teachers.- 3 days paid sick leave.- Pick up from airport/train station- Cover all Z1 visa costs including medical checks and translation fees.- Residency Visa
