Yangzhou Polytechnic College is located in the university town of Yangzhou, a well-developed historical and cultural city. It is a full-time institute and under the jurisdiction of Jiangsu Provincial Government. YPI is the largest provider of polytechnic vocational education and training in the central section of Jiangsu province. At present, it covers over nearly 40 specialties in six departments, ranging from chemical engineering to applied chemistry, mechanics, electronics, architecture and economics & management, etc.

YPI has excellent faculty, state-of-art teaching equipments and distinct running feature which will surely promote its development further. At present, it has over 7000 registered students and almost 400 staff members, of whom 232 are double qualified and skilled teachers. 35% of them have got the high rank title for advanced teachers; 31% have obtained masters and doctorates. Since its establishment, more than 20,000 graduates, 7000 vocational graduates and 5000 project managers, have been contributing to many fields nationwide. Also it is one of the training places for National Architecture Managers (NAM) and International Project Management Professional (IPMP). Because YPI is committed to quality education, its graduates are highly praised by employers. The employment rate of YPI’s graduates has reached 97% over 20 consecutive years.

YPI now covers an area of about 40 hectares with a floor space up to comes up to 280,000 m2. Up-to-date teaching and living facilities are introduced to the institute. Also it has 1kmhz campus net through which campus-computer users have easy access to the Internet. And the campus is equipped with 140 standard teaching rooms, 30 multi-media classrooms and more than 50 academic laboratories. The floor-space area of training and lab building comes up to 60,000 m2. The total collection of the institution library reaches 300,000 volumes, of which 200,000 are paper-made books and journals and 100,000 are electronic periodicals.

With reference to “taking the social demand as the guidance, taking the reform as the power and taking quality as the foundation”, YPI attaches great importance to its connection with industry and manufacturing, and closely combines industry, teaching and research together. Also YPI pays too much attention to the district economy and social development and aligns teaching with market needs. To make excellent contributors to our society and well-rounded citizens, YPI spares no efforts in developing students’ creativity and practical ability. Because of its excellent operation?YPI have won the title of Advanced Unit in Vocational Education of Jiangsu Province; Advanced School in Morality Teaching of Jiangsu Province; Provincial Civilized Campus and Advanced Unit in Vocational Skills Appraisal of Jiangsu Province.

YPI holds that international exchange and cooperation will promote the institute’s development and elevate its academic level.
